- To separate the key from the fob, press the release button located at its base. This will make the emergency key
- Gently pry the key out of its plastic housing and lift it up. You should be able to pry the black plastic circle off the rest of the fob. Keep in mind that the back cover portion on some keys can only be removed by first removing the key itself and then, using a small screwdriver, prying off the back.
- Take out the old battery and swap it out with a new one. Check the orientation of the new battery.
- Replace the cover by placing it back where it came from and squeezing the two halves of the case together with a light amount of force. Then, the emergency key must be reinserted into its corresponding hole.
