Changing the design of your Porsche's headlights is one of the quickest and easiest mods you can make. If you want to upgrade to LED lights or just need to replace the worn-out or outdated ones that came with your vehicle, you'll be happy to know that installing them is a simple task that can be done in under twenty minutes. When it comes to removing the components or replacing the bulbs, you won't need any tools at all. It is important to remember not to contact the surface of the new bulb with your bare hands since the oils on your skin have the potential to create hot spots on the bulb and shorten its lifespan. It is a good idea to cleanse and lubricate the rails and locking lever while the component is removed from the fender because this is the best time to do so.
Step 1: Take Out The Headlamp
To reveal the wiring for the headlight, you'll need to pull back the carpeting. There is a mechanism near the front of the car that locks the headlights. To release the latch, turn the lever counterclockwise by 180 degrees. While doing so, the headlight will protrude from the fender, so keep a firm grip on it.
Pro Tip: Remove the unit by lifting it up and forward, being careful not to scratch the car's paint while you do so. Scrub the area with a rag to remove any grime or trash that has accumulated.
Step 2: Replace the Headlights
To install the replacement headlight assembly, you must do so with great care. Take extra care not to harm the car's paint by accidentally bumping the unit against it. After installing the front lamp, make sure there are no spaces between it and the housing. Turn the knob to secure the headlight. Check for looseness by jiggling the light fixture to make sure it is properly installed.
Pro Tip: Put blue painter's tape around the headlight opening's edges if you're concerned about scratching the finish when removing and installing your new lights. This will help prevent the surface from getting marred. It is simple to remove off painted surfaces while still providing protection for the finish.
Step 3: Iterate The Steps And do Test
In order to do the same with the other headlight, simply reverse the procedures above.
- Bring the floorboards out from under you
- Lock release
- Move the lever by rotating it.
- Take off the whole thing that lights up the front
- Changing out the whole headlight assembly
- Seek out discrepancies
- Lock in place by rotating the lever.
Once you've installed both bulbs, you should start the car and check that the headlights, brights, and turn signals all work.
