Readville is a city in Suffolk County, Massachusetts, with roughly 11,000 people. The community has a total area of 0.1 square miles (0.26 km2) and is approximately 2,200 feet (670 m) above sea level. The location of Readville was settled by its namesake Thomas Read who opened a water-powered grist mill along Fort River in 1655; it would later be owned by Benjamin Edes Sr., founder of the Boston Gazette. During its time as an independent municipality between 1752 and 1870, it was known as Parish Village before being annexed to greater Boston and renamed for City Councillor Henry Lunt, who grew up there.
